Kinder

Is it kinder to tell fibs to confused old folk?

I'm currently doing some work in a hospital. Many of the old folk in my care are somewhat confused. The hospital is in an industrial northern town.

When the old folk don't know where they are, who they are etc., would it be kinder to tell them that they've died, gone to heaven and are awaiting a good seeing to from Kylie Minogue and if they'd like to watch the unicorn races whilst they wait, they just need to face the wall?

Or should I stick with the truth, "you're in a shithole, waiting to die"?

  1. I dont think youre cut out for this kind of work
  2. you will be old someday too.

    hope you get better service.
  3. i think you should tell fibs to confussed old folk...lol

cause its nicer that way...but if they are just old and NOT confussed then you should tell them the truth..
  4. We should always tell the truth, personally I find it quite cruel to lie people like that.
  5. my grandma doesn`t like kylie !
  6. Just let them think what they want, chances are they won't remember. My mom worked in an elderly home and this old man and lady believed they were husband and wife when they really weren't, and no one told them otherwise (it's best to not disturb the peace when it comes to old people).
  7. Well when you have such a knack for creative lying it would be a shame not to put it to good use....
